Measurements

The system is configured to store decimal values.  This is the case with most computer systems.

Generally, it's easier to enter a number like 1.5 rather than 1 1/2.

However, we also recognize that many measurements are entered as fractional values. Masterpiece makes this process very easy as well.

Obviously, you can enter a value, such as 13.125, as in the example above.  When you do this, the system will automatically translate the value into fractions and metric values.

To enter a fraction, simply double-click the dimension field or press the star key [ * ] while in edit mode.  The system will open a temporary window where you can enter a fraction.

Enter the value, as in 13 3/8.  Note that you can use a dash [ - ] rather than a space if you like.  This allows you to perform the whole operation by using the numeric keypad on your keyboard.

When you press Enter, the system will return the decimal value of the fraction you entered.
